Shelter Dogs in Need of Immediate Rescue, Vance, NC

These animals are currently located at Vance County Animal Control, Henderson, NC. This is a county-run facility that utilizes the GAS CHAMBER and/or HEARTSTICK as a method of "euthanasia" for those who are not rescued or adopted. It is CRITICAL that we move them out of the shelter and into the safety of rescue as quickly as possible. The shelter is very small with only 10 dog runs and one tiny cat room. Tick (M, Neutered, Adult, 45lbs) was picked up as a stray; we do believe he belongs to someone since he’s neutered. Tick is a happy boy, great with other dogs and people.

Susan & Susie (F, Lab Mix, approx 1-2 years old, 40 – 50 lbs) are very bonded; the owner brought them to the shelter. We don’t understand why, they gorgeous and will make great pets. Susan & Susie are scared because they have no idea why they here.

Amber (F, Hound Mix, approx. 1 – 2 yrs old, 35 lbs) POSSIBLY PREGNANT, she was picked up as a stray. Amber is joy to be around, she loves being around people. Amber seems to be pregnant

Arlo (M, Pitbull, approx. 2 yrs, 35 lbs) was surrendered by his owner. Arlo is very friendly with people, all he wants is to have a new home. Arlo can go to OUT OF STATE RESCUE ONLY.

Avalanche (M, Lab, approx. 3-4 yrs old, 50 lbs) picked up as a stray. He gets along great with other dogs and loves being around people.

Blackie (M, Lab Mix, approx. 1 yr old, 50 lbs) came in as a stray. Blackie gets along great with the other dogs. He is a little shy towards people.

Black Out (M, Lab Mix, approx. 1-2 yrs old, 45 – 50 lbs HW NEG) was brought in as stray. Black Out is easy going, loves people and he doesn’t care about the other dogs.

Molly (F, Bloodhound, approx. 2 yrs, 45 lbs) was surrendered by her owner. Molly is great with other dogs and people.

Dexter (M, 1-2 yrs, Pitbull Mix, 35 – 40lbs) was brought in as a stray, we do believe he belongs to someone. Dexter wants to play with whoever comes in his kennel, he also ignores the dogs in the kennel next to him. We need Out of state Rescue to step up to safe Dexter TODAY!! HW NEG

Jackie (F, Pitbull, approx. 2-3 yrs old, 35 lbs) has a skin condition and the vet is coming tomorrow to check her out. Jackie is great with people, she can go to OUT OF STATE RESCUE ONLY.

Jet (M, Collie Mix, 12 weeks) picked up as stray. Jet is very scared and will scream when you try to pick him up. Jet will let you touch him and is great with other dogs.

Kirk (M, Boxer Mix, 1-2 yrs old, 40 -45 lbs, HW POSITIVE) came in as a Stray; he apparently had been hit and has a bruise on his face; he will give you all kinds of loving once he knows you won’t harm him. Kirk likes the dog in the kennel next him.

Lady (F, Beagle, 1 yr, 25 lbs) was surrendered by her owner because she wouldn’t hunt squirrels.

Lord Cedric's (M, Shep Mix, Puppy) owner surrendered him because he has Mange, the vet done a skin scrape and Lord Cedric has Demodectic Mange (the non contagious Mange) and is being treated for it. It doesn’t bother him at all he has so much love to give and wants to play any chance he gets.

Maggie has injured her back trying to scratch herself. her injury is being treated. She really needs to find a good home that can offer her the care she needs.

Max (white, M) & Maxine (choc. F) both are Pit Puppies approx. 12 weeks old the owner didn’t want them anymore now they. Max & Maxine are people friendly. OUT OF STATE RESCUE ONLY!

Mia (F, Lab Mix, approx. 2 yrs, 35 lbs) was brought in by her owner. We don’t understand why, Mia is a loving girl that enjoys being around people and is also good with other dogs.

Mike (M, Pit Mix, approx. 1-2 yrs old, 35 lbs) came in as a stray, he was wearing a collar that was embedded in his neck. Mike has been to the vet to get the collar removed and is getting medication to heal. Mike is a great with people and deserves so much to find a loving home. Mike can go to OUT OF STATE RESCUE ONLY.

Murphy (M, approx. 2 yrs Old, Hound Mix, 40 lbs, HW NEG) came in as a stray; we are sure he has an owner and hope they will come look for him. Murphy is easy going, great with people

Nixie (F, Lab Mix, approx. 2 yrs old, 45 lbs) was surrendered by her owner with Noir. They both are dog and people friendly

Ole Men (M, Beagle, SENIOR, 25 lbs) came in as a stray. Ole Men is good with the other dogs in the kennel.

Onyx (M, Lab Mix, Adult, 35 lbs) Onyx has one blue eye, likes being around people, a VERY sweet & loving boy who is begging to be saved.

Percy (M, Lab Mix, approx. 2 yrs old, 45 lbs) was also picked up as a stray, he is very loving and will give you all of his attention. Percy is going to be a loyal dog to his new owner. Percy needs immediate rescue!

Port (M, Pit Mix Puppy) was picked up as a stray. Animal Control found owner and contacted them but nobody has come for him. Port is great with other dogs and people. He can go to OUT OF STATE RESCUE ONLY 9.15.12.

Roci (F, Jack Russel, approx. 2 yrs old, 20 lbs) owner surrendered. Roci loves people, she will make a great pet

Savannah (F, 5-7 yrs) has had a rough life. She was brought in from an abuse case and has been being treated by the vet and loving foster parents. Savannah has been suffering from Demododic mange and heart ache. She is being treated but coming around slowly. Savannah's coat is not coming in very quickly and will need some where, where she can stay inside when the weather get colder.

Scout (M, Rotti Mix, approx. 8 months old, HW NEG) picked up as a stray and seems to have an injury to his front leg. Scout is a beautiful and will make a great pet.

Shane (M, Lab Mix, approx. 1 yr, 30 lbs) was picked up as a stray. Shane is great with the other dogs.

Shasta (F, Lab Mix, approx. 2-3 yrs old, 40 lbs) picked up as a stray. Shasta came in with Shena and is great with the other dogs.

Shena (F, Lab Mix, approx. 2-3 yrs old, 40 lbs) picked up as a stray. Shena came in with Shasta and is great with the other dogs and likes people.

Shortcake (F, Shep/Beagle Mix, Adult, 35 lbs) was picked up as a stray. Shortcake is friendly and wants to be loved. Shortcake is great with people.

Star is a beautiful 4 year old boxer she is well behaved and very sweet. Star weighs about 45lbs. Star is being treated from a very severe case of fleas. She is very thin which may be a result of the fleas. Please help give Star the care she needs and a great home.

Tony (M, Pitbull, approx. 1 yr old, 25 – 30 lbs) has been at the shelter for some time, because he was very skinny when he got there. Tony love being around people and is very playful. Tony can go to OUT OF STATE RESCUE ONLY.

Viking (M, Greyhound Mix, 1 yr, approx. 50 lbs, HW positive) was picked up as a stray. Viking will do actually reach for you through the cage. Viking loves people and is available for adoption/rescue today.

Check out this precious female golden retreiver mix and male shep mix. They have taken up at a house where the family is just moving in. They cannot keep them as they have 5 dogs of their own. They say they are very sweet and must have belonged to someone at some time.
