FREE transport this weekend leaving Henderson, NC Sunday morning at 9:00, 9/30, headed I-95 North to MD. The shelter is critically FULL; dogs are being tripled up and will be gassed soon! Cats are being kept as many as 5 to a crate right now and are in critical danger of being gassed!
The following dogs and cats are located at the Vance County Animal Shelter in Henderson, NC. Many have sponsorship money!

Arlo (M, Pitbull, approx. 2 yrs, 35 lbs) was surrendered by his owner. Arlo is very friendly with people, all he wants is to have a new home. Arlo can go to OUT OF STATE RESCUE ONLY.
Jackie (F, Pitbull, approx. 2-3 yrs old, 35 lbs) has a skin condition and the vet is coming tomorrow to check her out. Jackie is great with people, she can go to OUT OF STATE RESCUE ONLY.
Ringo is a Pit Bull Terrier Mix, brindle, adult male. He is between 26-60 lbs. He is up to date with shots. Ringo was surrendered by his owner. Ringo had a lot flea and ticks when he came in and got treated for them. Ringo is great with people and likes the dogs in the kennel next to him. Ringo can go to OUT OF STATE RESCUE ONLY.
Diesel is a male boxer mix, White - With Tan, Yellow/ Fawn, Adult Size: Large 61-100 lbs. Diesel is up to date with shots. Diesel was surrendered by his owner. Diesel is great with people, seems to be okay with other dogs.
Mia (F, Lab Mix, approx. 2 yrs, 35 lbs) was brought in by her owner. We don't understand why; Mia is a loving girl that enjoys being around people and is also good with other dogs.
Mike (M, Pit Mix, approx. 1-2 yrs old, 35 lbs) came in as a stray, he was wearing a collar that was embedded in his neck. Mike has been to the vet to get the collar removed and is getting medication to heal. Mike is a great with people and deserves so much to find a loving home. Mike can go to OUT OF STATE RESCUE ONLY.
Tony (M, Pitbull, approx. 1 yr old, 25 – 30 lbs) has been at the shelter for some time, because he was very skinny when he got there. Tony love being around people and is very playful. Tony can go to OUT OF STATE RESCUE ONLY.
Sandy is a precious female golden retreiver mix who, with her sister, took up at a house where the family was just moving in. They could not keep her (and her sibling) as they have 5 dogs of their own. They say Sandy is very sweet and must have belonged to someone at some time. 
Maggie is a Pit Bull Terrier Mix, 4 years old, 26-60 lbs, Female. Maggie is up to date with shots. Maggie is as beautiful as she is kind. She is well trained and has always been taught to love. Maggie and Star are good friends. Maggie also has a severe flea problem. Please help this sweet girl. Her back also has an injury from scratching so bad it's also being treated.
Velvet, Labrador Retriever Mix, Black With Brown, Red, Golden, Orange Or Chestnut, Adult,
Med. 26-60 lbs, Female, up to date with shots and good with dogs. Velvet was owner surrender. Velvet is great with other dogs, but a little shy around people. Velvet will approach you and let you rub her. Velvet needs to be out by 9.27.12 
Scarlett, Pointer/Labrador Retriever Mix, White With Black, Adult, Med. 26-60 lbs, Female,up to date with shots.
Scarlett came to the shelter as a stray. Scarlett is beautiful and very scared. Scarlett might have been abused; she runs but will let you rub her.
Big Girl, Pit Bull Terrier Mix, Black - With White, Adul, Med. 26-60 lbs, Female, up to date with shots.
Big Girl was surrendered by her owner. Big Girl is very people friendly and seems to be okay with other dogs. Big Girl needs to go to an Out of State Rescue by 9.27.12 
Beau, Labrador Retriever Mix, Brown/Chocolate, Adult, Med. 26-60 lbs, Male, up to date with shots and good with dogs.
Beau was picked up as a stray. Beau is a little scared but will come and take treats out of your hand; he gets along great with other dogs.
Wabbles, Beagle Mix , Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White, ~5 years, Small 25 lbs or less, Male, up to date with shots.

Wabbles is a gentle, midl tempered dog who prefers older dogs to younger. He was heartworm positiv, but has since been treated, he will always need to be on heartworm preventative for life.
He loves his people, and will follow you all over if you'll let him. Has been available for adoption since 8.30.12
